NETHER FLOWERS

The Nether is an ecosystem. Its unique vegetation has the ability to communicate.
Nether Flowers bloom in unexpected places… appearing where sorrows touch the ground.
Born from fire, Nether Flowers don’t need neither water, nor soil.
They simply grow into themselves.
Sometimes they are tiny, from the smallest pains. A single tear shed and landed in the perfect place.
In other moments they stand tall.

Darthra Plant

Carnivorous flora, luring its prey in with its appealing glass droplet, which is also highly intoxicating. Upon contact with the plant, the droplet emits a sticky venomous substance. The venom’s molecules are so small that they absorb through the skin of the prey and enter its bloodstream within seconds. It causes a rapid decomposition of all tissues, which then seep into the soil, consequently feeding the plant.

Lirien Plant

Vascular aquatic herbivorous plant which absorbs minerals from the water in order to feed itself. Due to this ability, it can survive in complete and utter darkness. These plants also store samples of all the minerals they ingest in their entire lifetime, keeping them safe in their round-shaped pistils. In case of an apocalypse or a natural disaster, Lirien would probably be the last species to survive and also the first to release new minerals into the desolated Nether, restarting the cycle of life.

Ilariza Plant

This tiny harmless plant is actually crucial to the Nether’s ecosystem. Its wire-like roots have extreme sensitivity and they are able to “read” the chemical composition of numerous minerals held within the soil it lives on. In case of a threat, the Nether minerals alter their biochemical components, an invisible signal that only the Ilariza can pick up on. Once made aware of the danger, the flower then communicates it to the outside world through its position and movements.
This means that those who understand the behaviour of Ilarizas are able to read the current status of the mineral composition of the Nether’s soil and to determine important factors about its health.
